Biographies of the Emperors

The biographies of Roman emperors from Caesar to Domitian capture the personal lives and character traits of each ruler. Suetonius was born in. 70 n. l. and served as the Roman Imperial Archivist. His best known works are these biographies. CVs have a similar structure, the author recounts the emperor's origins, birth, Appearance, personal habits, marriage, Death, oracular signs and possibly literary (artistic) activity, a group of friends, sex life and kinkiness, typical statements. The author does not gloss over the murders that the rulers committed or were guilty of. The biographies often read like a novel, because the author does not only describe the appearance and statesmanship of the emperors, but also opens up glimpses into their private lives, in which they are ordinary people with all their weaknesses and, more often than not, vices. Performers: Soběslav Sejk, Bořivoj Navrátil and Jiří Hanák. Directed by: Vladimír Tomeš
