Between solidarity and disappointment

The COVID-19 pandemic was a complete societal phenomenon, a time of both acute and less acute crises, but also a period that can tell us a great deal—especially in hindsight—about the functioning of institutions and individuals. What have we learned about our society in those few years? Did we pass the test? Can we hope that we, as a society, will be able to handle any future crisis that comes our way, or should we look to the future with apprehension? These questions are posed in this book by historians, psychologists, and sociologists from the Czech Academy of Sciences. The book is the result of joint research into Czech society during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was published in a co-edition with the Institute of Contemporary History of the CAS, the Institute of Psychology of the CAS, and the Institute of Sociology of the CAS.
