Beggarly Death
The tenth episode of the series with Commissioner Katie Maguire
When four brutal murders occur in Cork, the public is not as shocked as one might expect. The dead have something in common — they all lived on the streets and were an invisible burden to the people of Cork. However, the ways in which the victims were killed are unusually brutal: two of the dead had a hole drilled into their heads, one ended up with half of her face shot off, and a young homeless girl was burned alive. The investigation is also complicated by two missing women, a psychopath who throws passersby into the river, a girl pursued by a suspicious man, and a ring found in minced meat.
Commissioner Katie Maguire is used to a lot of things, but the new year has barely begun and the number of murders in Cork has almost surpassed all statistics. Katie must make a superhuman effort to navigate the chaos that has gripped the city and find out how all the cases are connected.

They wrote about the book:
If you are not familiar with Katie Maguire' s previous stories, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with them before embarking on Begging Death. The world built in this series has already grown to such an extent that many threads inevitably run through several books, and when reading only the last volume, some might seem out of context. Be sure to read the entire series chronologically — you' ll appreciate each installment even more.
