Basics of mantrailing

Mantrailing – i.e. searching for people by individual smell – is a slightly different method of training. The handler uses the dog's innate ability to find scent trails. He's not trying to impose „ human“ viewpoint, fully respects the dog, tries to understand and cooperate with the dog so that the dog will ultimately do what is expected of it and find the missing person.

Not everyone can train their pet to the point where it can actually search for lost people. But for many cynologists, the reward will be the joy of meaningful cooperation with their dog. With mantrailing training, they will strengthen their bond with each other and learn to understand their dog better.
