Artistic blacksmithing

The intention of the publication is to give a comprehensive overview of the state of artistic blacksmithing in the Czech Republic. The actual core and contribution of the publication is the chapter on contemporary art and metalwork. It is newly prepared on the basis of a renewed set of sample works. This chapter is logically preceded by an explanation of the historical development of blacksmithing and the stylistic changes that have influenced blacksmithing from the earliest times to the present day. The central theme is then followed by an overview of working procedures, techniques used and technological equipment of blacksmith's workplaces. The following is a discussion of related and related blacksmithing disciplines, which is expanded by the history and description of the technologically interesting production of Japanese swords. The whole text is complemented by an explanation of selected terms and an overview of the authors whose works are mentioned in the publication.
