André Laurie: The Magician's Secret

A ten-part sequel to the adventure novel André Laurie (1844 - 1909), by his own name Paschal Grousset, was the author of many novels for young people, published by Hetzel in the Adventure Novels series. Laurie owes the fact that he hasn't been forgotten to his former collaboration with Verne. Their joint works are three: The Steel City (1879), Star of the South (1884) and The Survivors of Cynthia (1885). Laurie's books are not, of course, plagiarisms of Vern's books: Laurie does not shy away from the occult colouring in his stories, which is alien to Verne, and often, unlike him, builds a plot around a love story, albeit a naive one.
