Amelia wants to stay afloat

Amelia was a diligent and responsible little girl, then a diligent and responsible teenager, and today she is a disillusioned but still diligent young woman. She'll be thirty in seven days and her latest pastime is making lists of her own failures. The last one is longer than she would have expected: He lives in his parents' basement, writes trendy articles for a hipster magazine to support herself, which doesn't pay much, so she also has to walk her neighbor's dog three times a day; and waitressing in a bar full of drunk teenagers downtown. Her friends are happily married, have careers, mortgages and children, while she doesn't know what direction she should take in life. Her boyfriend is a poor poet, lives with his mother and has no intention of changing that anytime soon. Amelia's best friends and advisors in existential matters are the four pensioners she befriended while walking her dog – but can their peculiar advice guide her to the right path?
To make matters worse, the editor-in-chief of the hipster magazine she works for decided to give her one last chance. He is to write a super-successful article on the 28,800 plastic ducks floating in the ocean after a maritime disaster. He gave her exactly seven days to turn it in, and so the countdown begins: Seven days for Amelia to write the coolest article of her career and avoid getting fired. Seven days to understand if she's even in love – and to whom. Seven days to find out what she really wants in life. Is it better to keep drowning and flailing your arms around for dear life, or just jump in headfirst and let the current take you?
