About people and dogs
Joker, Pluto, Timur, Fox, Aramis, Saracen... these are the main heroes of short stories by renowned Czech authors, in which the relationship between man and dog plays a major role. Kind, touching, fatal, irreplaceable, but sometimes complicated, even suspicious at first.
A dog is said to be man's best friend. Like people do with dogs, so too do dogs in humans look for it, that sometimes their own kind, society, cannot provide, comfort in solitude, protection or friendship, understanding without words. People appreciate their canine friends for their loyalty, devotion, trust, and perhaps they see and admire a bit of themselves in them. Some people say they get along with their own more than with their relatives. And when a dog dies, it's like when a family member passes away.
"The short story collection Of Men and Dogs perfectly shows
the everyday joys and sorrows of life with a four-legged partner.
An absolute must for all dog owners!"
- Karolína Skácelová (Penny and books)
and canine friend Riley
