The book is a collection of 29 chapters written by 34 authors working in Czech political science and related fields. Their contributions form a summary of the questions contemporary Czech political science is concerned with. Despite the considerable thematic range, several cohesive sections can be identified. The first part is entitled Political Institutions, where the texts are devoted mainly to the institutional and constitutional aspects of modern politics, both domestic and foreign. The second part is called Parties and Social Movements and deals with the party-political dimension. The third part is named Elections, Electoral Systems and their Reforms. The final part of the book, Varia, covers further research in political science in the fields of political philosophy, sociology, social science methodology, and modern history.
