Abdomen and pain

Abdominal pain is one of the most common symptoms for which patients seek medical attention. When a patient presents with abdominal pain, many questions must be answered: where is it located, what is its intensity, when did it start, what is the triggering or relieving stimulus or position, is it related to a specific situation, where does it radiate to, whether the patient has already been examined for this problem, what was found, and how long the problem has persisted.
Abdominal pain can be a manifestation of entirely harmless circumstances, as well as of conditions that are immediately life-threatening. The differential diagnosis can be very broad, and abdominal pain can also have its cause in another organ system. This is the basis on which the concept of this ambitious book was created.
The book Abdomen and Pain has a general section that includes propaedeutic examination, ultrasonographic examination, and examination using imaging methods. An integral part of the book is also a chapter dedicated to laboratory tests.
In the special section, the most extensive chapters are from internists and surgeons, including a paediatric surgeon. An infectologist, gynaecologist, urologist, cardiologist, angiologist, neurologist, psychiatrist, addictologist, gerontologist, oncologist, intensivist, and allergist also comment on the differential diagnosis of abdominal pain in its acute and chronic forms in separate chapters.
The book is intended primarily for postgraduate education (general practitioners, internists, specialists), but it is also interesting for medical students.
