A vet with heart and soul

The well-known and popular vet Jan Herčík, co-author of six successful books written in tandem with Alena Hrachovcová, says this about the book you are now holding: “Together, we will try to lift your spirits with stories from a veterinary practice. Stories that are sometimes cheerful, sometimes thought-provoking, and some might even bring a tear to your eye. Our first book, *Why it’s wonderful to be a vet*, was published ten years ago, and people still ask me about it. This was followed by the travelogue *Vets on the road*, and then the books *A vet remembers* and *A vet in action*. The fifth, *The vet treats, the animals heal*, is, thanks to you, dear readers, completely sold out, just like the previous ones, and as far as I know, no further reprints are planned. For this reason, and perhaps because of the many questions I often get (‘When is the next one coming out, doctor?’ and, ‘Do you really not have any copies of the previous one?’), this sixth and final book, which you are just beginning to read, came to be. Therefore, given what has been said, we have taken some stories from the previous books. But most of them are new, brought to life at the Veterinary Clinic in Horoměřice. We hope you enjoy the book, dear readers, and if we can brighten your mood even just a little, then that will make us happy too.”
