A spy in the library

Ava has always loved the smell of old books, their yellowed pages hiding stories and the wisdom of the past. She couldn't imagine ever leaving her dream job at the Library of Congress. But during the war, everything is different. An unexpected offer from the US Army takes her to Portugal with a new mission: to pose as a librarian in Lisbon while secretly working as a spy.
Meanwhile, in occupied France, Elaine joins a printing workshop run by members of the resistance. It's clear to all the workers that the Nazis are hunting for the press and want to destroy it. In their world full of hunger and danger, a young Jewish woman appears, having escaped arrest with her child. Elaine decides to do whatever it takes to save them and secretly encodes a message into the newspapers being prepared. She can only hope that someone will be able to find and decipher it. As war rages across Europe, Ava and Elaine are brought together by their efforts to save the woman and her young boy, along with the last remnants of hope, in the face of danger.
