A selection from the work of an enchantingly brilliant poet

A selection from the work of K. H. Mácha in an audiobook that will both move and charm. Mácha's only published book, the poem Máj (May), together with his enchanting lyric poetry, prose collection and diaries, are among the long-recognised treasures of Czech literature. With its thematic register and the elaborate acoustics of the verse, but above all with the poet's attitude to the world as a space of uncertainty, frustration and tragedy, Máj is a part of contemporary European literature. In this set we can listen to Máj in three major interpretations from the Supraphon archive (Václav Voska, Rudolf Hrušínský, brothers Jiří and Petr Traxlerová and Heda Hošková and many other important Czech actors - František Němec, Jiří Adamíra, Tatiana Medvecka, Marek Eben, Radovan Lukavský Petr Haničinec, Otakar Brousek st., Vladimir Raz... The set is completed by new recordings of Macha's travel notes and other poems, originated outside of May. Here, too, we find the fundamental theme of Mácha's work - the feeling of the temporariness of life, the fleeting nature of youth, and disappointed amorous longings.
