Dual Eye 2.0 technology enables the robot to automatically calculate the light intensity and scan the ceiling, taking pictures of the room and minimising wandering, even in the dark. While the upper camera takes 30 images per second, scanning ceiling surfaces, it continuously compares these images to generate simultaneous localisation and mapping information. The lower camera is an Optical Flow Sensor which reads the floor for measuring distances and recognising obstacles and slight changes to the flooring.
The Hom-Bot combines 3 different motion types for maximum cleaning effect. The first mode is the Spiral when the vacuum cleaner moves along a wide spiral path with an outer circle diameter of 1.5m, most suitable for spot cleaning. Another mode is the Zig Zag, where the Hom-Bot moves back and forth until it encounters an obstacle. This mode is ideal for large areas with few obstacles and is the most commonly used automatic mode. The last mode is Cell by Cell, which includes an advanced Zig Zag motion methodically focused on an individual cell, a great choice for complex spaces with obstacles. The robot can detect glass and transparent objects and store them away to remember.
The vacuum cleaner features a sophisticated system equipped to deal with various obstacles. The Hom-Bot can release itself from being stuck, and can seafely navigate the edge of the carpet or cables lying around. It does not even need to stop, as it can simply bypass the obstruction with the help of its advanced detectors. Glass doors or windows mean no challenge either for the sensors, allowing a continuous workflow. In the case of the vacuum cleaner getting stuck, it is able to unlodge itself and continue on its path uninterrupted. Furthermore, the mapping feature ensures that the Hom-Bot continues cleaning without unnecessary repetition even after you've moved it manually.
You can easily remove the dust bin after lifting the lid of the vacuum cleaner, a much more practical solution than the simple plug-in types that you find inside conventional robot vacuum cleaners.
