Heat the oil in a medium-sized pot, add the finely chopped onions and fry until golden. Sprinkle one part of rice and sauté slightly. You can add other ingredients (vegetables, meat, mushrooms, etc.) to the roasted rice, add water (1.5 parts water to 1 part rice) and add salt. Boil, cover and cook over low heat for 16–18 minutes (the rice sticks after cooking but remains firm inside). Pour excess water and serve rice.
