The ECC technology checks transparently and in real time the integrity of data stored in memory. It can find and fix an error in one bit and detect the error in two bits. Some memory controllers also work with the ECC to repair large-scale errors. Most professional desktops require ECC- enabled memory. In cooperation with parity control, the memory achieves maximum control of transferred data. The parity consists in adding the auxiliary information to the one- bit word (the so-called parity bit) and can subsequently verify the authenticity of the transferred data.
Registered memory is equipped with a controller that controls access to individual memory modules and facilitates the work of the controller
