ECC technology checks transparently, and in real time, the integrity of data stored in memory. It can find, and fix, an error in one bit and detect the error in two bits. Some memory controllers can also repair larger-scale errors in conjunction with the ECC. Most server boards require memory with ECC support. In cooperation with parity control, the memory achieves maximum control of transmitted data. The parity is that the auxiliary information (the so-called parity bit) is added to the single-word, and it can then verify the authenticity of the transferred data.
