KAWAI CX202B - Black

The KAWAI CX202 digital piano features gently curved side arms and sturdy legs for added stability. The piano is equipped with a sliding key cover to protect the keyboard from dust, and a wide music rest that can be folded down when not in use. At just over 40 centimetres deep, the CX202 is a compact instrument, making it well-suited for flats and other tight spaces. The Responsive Hammer Compact II action and the rich sounds of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX give your playing an expressive and natural feel. You can connect to external devices via USB or wirelessly via Bluetooth. The PiaBookPlayer app displays the sheet music for lessons and other pieces. The CX202's Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) technology enhances the depth and realism of the instrument's sound when listening through headphones. The triple-pedal unit, equipped with a Half-Damper function, allows you to smoothly control the length of the reverb, just like on a classic acoustic piano.

Acoustic piano key weighting

Just as acoustic pianos use heavier bass hammers and lighter treble hammers, the RHCII keyboard also employs different hammer weights, appropriately graded for each playing range. Such details provide greater stability during fortissimo passages, while preserving delicate pianissimo control to satisfy the demands of even the most discerning pianists.

Triple-sensor key detection

The Responsive Hammer Compact II keyboard action uses a precise triple-sensor key detection system for enhanced playing realism. The added third sensor improves responsiveness when playing the same key repeatedly, and unlike conventional two-sensor keyboard actions found in many digital pianos, it allows the sound of a single note to be gradually 'layered' without the previous tone being lost. Kawai's action technology also monitors the speed at which each key is lifted, influencing the release character of piano sounds, and providing a greater range of expression between staccato and legato playing.

Harmonic Imaging technology

The CX202 digital piano brings the rich, resonant sound of the acclaimed Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano to an affordable price point. Thanks to Kawai's advanced Harmonic Imaging technology, the CX202 reproduces the tonal depth and warmth of the original acoustic piano, delivering smooth, expressive variations in volume and character from gentle pianissimo to thunderous fortissimo.

Realistic reverberation

The CX202's powerful digital effects engine further enhances the instrument's core sounds, applying additional reverberation effects that simulate the acoustic environment of a recital room, live stage, or concert hall, bringing performances to life. The result is a rich, vibrant piano tone that delivers breathtaking realism and authenticity.

Impressive speaker system (with Low Volume Balance feature)

The CX202’s stereo speaker system delivers an impressive 40W of output, providing more than enough power to fill a medium-sized room with the beautiful sounds of a Shigeru Kawai grand piano. Moreover, when playing through speakers at a reduced volume setting (so as not to disturb family members), the CX202’s Low Volume Balance feature intelligently adjusts keyboard touch and piano tone characteristics, allowing pianissimo passages to be played smoothly and more naturally.

Integrated Bluetooth connectivity

In addition to a standard USB-MIDI port for connecting to computers, the CX202 also features integrated Bluetooth® MIDI and Audio technologies that allow the instrument to communicate with supported smart devices wirelessly. Once paired with a phone, tablet, or laptop, CX202 owners can enjoy a wide variety of exciting music-related apps that enhance their learning and playing experience, or stream audio from songs and videos directly through the instrument’s impressive speaker system without the need to connect additional cables.

PianoRemote and PiaBookPlayer apps

The CX202 is compatible with the latest Kawai PianoRemote control app for iOS and supported Android devices. The app connects to the piano wirelessly via the integrated Bluetooth feature, allowing sounds to be changed, settings to be adjusted, and the built-in music content to be enjoyed from an attractive user interface. The CX202 is also compatible with Kawai’s PiaBookPlayer score viewer app, which allows sheet music for classical etudes and various other pieces to be displayed on a smartphone or tablet via a wireless Bluetooth connection. The PiaBookPlayer app includes the notated scores for over 370 pieces and also supports hands-free page turning using the piano's configurable pedals.

Built-in lesson function

With the CX202's practical piano lesson function, aspiring pianists can learn classical piano pieces using a collection of etudes by Czerny, Burgmüller, and Beyer, or learn contemporary pieces from the popular Alfred's Basic Piano course books. The left and right-hand parts of each etude or song can be practised separately, with the built-in metronome and adjustable tempo controls helping to improve timing and rhythm.

An exceptional headphone experience

The CX202’s Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) technology enhances the depth and realism of the instrument's sound when listening through headphones. You can select one of three different acoustic presets that adjust the spatial positioning of the sound while helping to reduce listening fatigue during extended headphone use. In addition, the CX202 lets you choose from different types of headphones (open, semi-open, closed, in-ear, canal, etc.) for an optimised listening experience.

Grand Feel Pedal System

Reinforcing the CX202's position as one of the most realistic digital pianos in its price range is the Kawai Grand Feel Pedal System. This feature replicates the functionality, position, and individual weighting of the damper, soft, and sostenuto pedals of a Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano. The PianoRemote app also provides parameters for adjusting the half-pedal point and soft pedal depth, further enhancing the CX202's authentic acoustic piano sound.
