The inventor of this toy is a young art historian and antique furniture restorer, Tom van der Bruggen. But soon he found that the shape of the classic cube does not allow him to build roofs, windows or floors. For his own building kit, he found inspiration in the wooden beams of medieval buildings, and after a number of experiments he had chosen a 1:3:5 aspect ratio, the height being three times the thickness and the length five times the height.
