Extremely powerful processor with Broadwell-EP chips produced by the new 14nm manufacturing process. With its 14 cores, it is designed mainly for servers but also for classic computer stations. This processor delivers peak performance and absolute reliability in continuous operation. The processor is designed for motherboards equipped with the new LGA2011-3 socket .
The new technology delivers even greater performance thanks to higher number of cores and bigger LLC capacity. This model offers a total of 14 physical cores, and thanks to Hyperthreading, it can handle up to 28 processor threads at a time. It uses a 14nm manufacturing process and, compared with the previous generation Haswell, delivers 5% better IPC, or interprocessor communication.
New instruction kits have been added to offer greater performance at the same clock rate. Each core runs at 2.1GHz with Turbo mode and automatic overclocking up to 3GHz, if needed. The 4-channel DDR4 memory controller now supports 2400 MHz clocks, access to data is then greatly facilitated by the ultra-fast L3 cache of 40MB. The processor cores will thus have enough time for instant responding to all applications.
This technology overclocks busy cores or turns off the unnecessary ones. Overclocking is done by changing the multiplier. Each core has its own multiplier, so there may be a case when two cores are turned off and the remaining two each at different frequencies.
