The new technology delivers a higher performance, with a higher number of cores and higher LLC capacity. This model offers a total of 8 physical cores, and thanks to Hyperthreading, it can process up to 16 processor threads at a time. It uses a 14nm manufacturing process and, among other things, Haswell generates 5% better IPC, ie interprocessor communication.
New instruction kits have been added to offer higher performance at the same beat. Each core runs at 2.1 GHz with Turbo mode and automatic overclocking up to 3 GHz, if needed. The 4-channel DDR4 memory controller supports 2133 MHz, and data access is greatly facilitated by an extremely fast 20MB L3 cache. The processor cores will thus have enough time for instant response to all applications.
This technology overwhelms busy cores, or turns off unnecessary. Overclocking is done by changing the multiplier. Each core has its own multiplier, so there may be a case where the two cores are turned off and the remaining two cores each run at another frequency.
