Powerful cooling is important.
This processor was tested and cooled using the NZXT Kraken X62 .
Use a high quality paste
Equally important is a great heat-conducting paste. For us we recommend Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut or Kryonaut.
The right chassis with omega
The processor selections deserve the best! Differences in voltage intensity to the the frequency of the various motherboards is in the order of tens of millivolts. After years of experience, I recommend higher models from the Republic of Gamers from ASUS. We test our pieces on the ASUS MAXIMUS IX APEX .
The right juice
Quality source plays prime! If it matters, the motherboard is fundamentally good and stable. Our selection bits are tested on the Seasonic Prime 1200W Platinum. In this case, there is not so much about the total capacity but about the quality and overall design of the power supply. I personally recommend the Seasonic source clock, especially the latest Prime series is excellent for overclocking.
Our tips for achieving a guaranteed measurement
- In UEFI, use kernel voltage settings for manual mode where power is always more effective than offset or adaptive mode.
- In ASUSdesek LLC level 6, use the External Digi+ Power Control to prevent unwanted drops in voltages that could interfere with overclocking stability.
- Kaby Lake processors are very sensitive to temperatures, so use minimal-quality AiO water cooling of 240mm and a good heat conductive paste. The stronger the cooling you get, the better you get. This is related to a well-tuned airflow in your cabinet, if the airflow is not optimal, even the processor heat sink will not work as it should.
- A good resource that can deliver stable and accurate tensions is the foundation. We recommend Seasonic sources from the Prime series.
- Counting our selections requires at least basic experience and insight into the issue. Keep in mind that this is not a plug and play affair, to tune the overclocked system into stable mode requires patience and effort.
- All processors were tested for at least 1 hour in ASUS's demanding RealBench stress test, which also uses AVX instructions.
Final recommendation
In order to achieve a guaranteed measurement, it is necessary to follow our tips exactly or as close as you possibly can. Keep in mind that an imperfect combination of components may cause the guaranteed frequency to fail. The differences in the motherboards make tens of millivolts, which goes hand in hand with the increase in processor temperature and the demand for cooling and the overall result.
