Intel is a global brand that does not need any special introduction. For decades it has been among the largest processor and chipset manufacturers in the world. Now the company is launching the best desktop processors available, once again pushing the processor performance to another level. In essence, this is a server processor adapted for gaming use. Intel Core i7-6950X is designed for motherboards equipped with LGA2011-3 socket and upgraded Intel X99 Express chipset.
The processor features 10 physical cores and belongs to the modern Broadwell-E range. It’s made with the 14nm manufacturing process using the most advanced technology available. Each core runs at the basic frequency of 3 GHz, reaching up to 3.5 GHz with Turbo mode and automatic overclocking. Like the previous generation, there is also a memory controller, integrated directly into the chip. The four-channel DDR4 memory controller can now operate at up to 2400 MHz. The processor also has a buffer capacity of about 15 MB,
And because this series comprises mainly of desktop processors, Intel has introduced improved technology to squeeze the last drop of power from every processor. Turbo Boost Max 3.0 can test each core separately and choose the best one. With high-end processors the performance difference can reach 15%, so it would be a shame not to use it. The selected core is then set to run at the maximum clock speed and the system will use it as a priority.
