Intel sets the scene with the seventh generation of its processers, this time codenamed Kaby Lake. In principle, this is a very similar architecture as the previously successful Skylake series. Intel, however, worked on various optimizations and the result is a processor that delivers real increase performance while maintaining minimal energy consumption.
The Kaby Lake architecture is once again based on a14nm manufacturing process. Intel's demanding production provides absolutely stunning performance that gives this processor an excellent price-performance ratio. Like predecessors without AES-NI instructions, it allows much better hardware support when working with encrypted disks, with a substantial reduction in latency. The device also supports common virtualization functions VT-d and VT-x, including EPT. The quad-core Intel Core i5-7600 works reliably up to the high frequency of 4.2 GHz.
Data access is greatly facilitated by a fast L3 cache size of 6 MB which gives the cores enough time for an immediate response to all applications. This processor has properties guaranteed to serve as a reliable foundation for your computer assemblies.
Due to Intel's focus on the optimisation of existing technologies, the new Kaby Lake processors function in existing motherboards with socket 1151. It is only necessary for the motherboard manufacturer to verify compatibility and perform a relatively simple update to the UEFI environment.
