Intel has set the stage for the 7th generation of its processors, this time codenamed Kaby Lake. Basically, it has a very similar architecture to the previous successful Skylake series. However, Intel has worked on various optimizations and the result is a processor that delivers real performance growth while maintaining minimal energy consumption performance.
The Kaby Lake architecture is once again based on a 14nm production process. Beginning with quality manufacturing, Intel is doing its utmost to provide stunning excellence, offering this processor an excellent price/performance ratio. As with its predecessors, there are AES-NI instructions that provide much better hardware support when working with encrypted drives, with a noticeable reduction in latency. Of course there is support for the usual virtualization features VT-d and VT-x including EPT. The four-core Intel Core i5-7400 quad-core works reliably at a high frequency of 3.5 GHz.
Data access is greatly facilitated by a fast 6 MB L3 cache that gives the kernels enough time to respond instantly to all applications. This processors features will surely serve as a reliable foundation for your computer set.
Thanks to Intel's focus on optimizing existing technology, the new Kaby Lake processors are also working on previously sold motherboards with 1151 slots. It is only necessary to verify compatibility with the motherboard manufacturer and make a relatively simple update of the UEFI environment.
