Say hello to the much anticipated Huawei Mate 10 Pro. The newly introduced Mate 10 Pro model is among the best Huawei has to offer. Its unique design consists of a metal frame with a glass front and rear side. The phone’s 6" display is framed with an extremely thin bezel, giving the Mate 10 Pro a sleek and elegant look. The all-around premium design it topped with IP67 certification, making the Mate 10 Pro Huawei’s first waterproof phone.
The large FullView 6" AMOLED display takes up most of the front side of the phone, framed with an extremely thin bezel. This makes the phone much more compact overall compared to its similarly equipped competitors. In addition, the display features an impressive 2K resolution with a 18:9 aspect ratio. The stunning visual capabilities of the phone are further enhanced by the high-contrast RGBW mode that adds white subpixels to deliver 730-nits brightness. Finally, the special feature of the model is its HDR10 support.
The feature list of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro does not end here. The phone has a dual camera located in the so-called signature stripe. The two lenses are positioned vertically and slightly protrude from the body of the phone, providing a perfect f/1.6 aperture. The camera consists of two sensors with a resolution of 12Mpx and 20Mpx for the colour and black and white sensor respectively. The sensors have the same focal length. The camera is newly equipped with artificial intelligence, so it can automatically detect the photographed subject and select the optimal exposure setting.
The heart of the phone is the new Kirin 970 processor, which houses 8 computing and 12 graphics cores. It is the world's first chipset with a dedicated AI-specific Neural Network Unit (NPU), which makes it up to 25× more powerful when processing tasks related to artificial intelligence.
The large 4000mAh battery capacity of the Mate 10 Pro is a neat bonus that you won’t find in any of its competitors. Fast charging then ensures that you can recharge your phone to 58% in just 30 minutes.
Since you can never have too much of a good thing, the Mate 10 Pro offers excellent connectivity options in pretty much every aspect. It is the first smartphone that can receive LTE Cat 18 mobile connection with a data transfer rate of up to 1.2Gb/sec. This is enhanced by full VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) support for both nano-SIMs. The phone also includes the obligatory WiFi connectivity in the form of two-way WiFi 802.11 ac, plus standard Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC.
Physical connectivity of the Huawei Mate 10 is provided by a USB-C connector with integrated DisplayPort interface. The DisplayPort inclusion may seem odd, but it’s there for a reason. The Mate 10 Pro with Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 has a new desktop optimisation. Just plug in an external monitor and switch to the PC mode. The phone automatically detects the display resolution and resizes the image to match the desktop. This allows you to comfortably work with multiple windows even without a keyboard and mouse, since the phone display can be used as a virtual touchpad.
