NVIDIA is the undisputed leader amongst graphics cards manufacturers. Following the spectacular success of the high-end GeForce 1080 and 1070 series models, a new and advanced graphics card is now available for gamers who want to play at the resolutions of up to 2560 × 1440p. This is the main playing field of the GeForce GTX 1060.
Thanks to 16nm manufacturing technology and the new Pascal architecture, the manufacturer promises a noticeably higher performance and a considerable boost in efficiency. Expected power consumption is only about 120 W, yet the card’s performance is comparable to the GTX 980, which required up to 165 W.
The GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 Xtreme Gaming 6GB offers 1280 CUDA cores, 80 texture mapping units, and 48 render output units. The used GP106 Pascal family GPU reaches up to 1847 MHz in Boost mode. The graphics chip is backed by 6 GB of GDDR5 memory with 192 GB/s data bandwidth.
The fine-tuned Pascal chips by GIGABYTE are as good as these chips can get. This is possible thanks to an excellent cooling system. The card features a very large and heavily ribbed heatsink cooled by two virtually silent fans. This technological triumph is called Windforce 2X and if overclocking is your thing, it definitely won’t let you down.
