The FSP UPS Champ backup power supply provides reliable protection for electronics thanks to its advanced online double-conversion topology, which delivers a pure sine wave output without any interruption. This device offers an apparent power of 1000VA and a real power of 900W, which is sufficient for powering critical infrastructure. For easy monitoring of operating parameters, there is a clear LCD on the front panel, which displays the current load status and battery capacity. Management and monitoring are made easy by the included ViewPower software, which supports Windows, Linux, MAC and Solaris operating systems. The communication interface includes standard USB and RS-232 ports. The device is also equipped with a smart slot for an optional SNMP card, which enables remote management and monitoring via the RJ-45 network interface.

Topology and performance

The device provides a stable output voltage with precise regulation within a +/- 1% tolerance, which protects sensitive devices from grid fluctuations. In addition, the ECO operating mode actively reduces energy consumption when the mains supply is stable, thus saving on running costs.

Battery and protection

Two 12V batteries with a capacity of 9Ah ensure the power supply. The charger restores the battery capacity to 90% within 4 hours, which shortens the time until it's ready for the next outage. Microprocessor control continuously optimises the battery status and protects it from deep discharge, thereby extending its overall lifespan.

Design and noise level

The 2U Rack/Tower design allows for easy integration into standard 19" data cabinets as well as standalone vertical placement on the floor. Its compact dimensions of 88×438×310mm facilitate installation in spaces with limited capacity. The total weight of the device is 12kg. Active cooling maintains the operating temperature within the optimal range of 0–40°C, with the fan noise not exceeding 50dBA at a distance of one metre from the unit. The versatile design supports both vertical and horizontal positioning, so it adapts to the space available in any workplace. The device works seamlessly with power generators, expanding its deployment options in locations with unstable infrastructure. The integrated input power factor correction reduces interference back into the power grid.

Connectivity

The system is designed to operate reliably in an environment with non-condensing humidity in the range of 20–90% RH. The rear panel of this backup power supply offers three IEC 320 C13 output sockets and three IEC Jumper connectors for connecting other devices. The input power uses a standard Type A plug, and the unit operates safely with an output voltage of up to 240V. The communication interface includes USB and RS-232 ports along with a free slot for installing an optional SNMP network card.
