Radio bands mostly refer to 2.4 and 5GHz, and some of the latest routers can even use up to 60GHz. The most widely used is the 2.4GHz band, which is cheaper, but it also interferes with Bluetooth and other signals that use this band. This lower band is used quite often, so speed and stability vary greatly. The router at your home is most likely using this frequency.
However, if you run a business, stream a lot or simply need high-quality, fast Internet, the 5GHz band is much more suitable. This connection is more expensive, but it's much less overwhelmed and offers almost four times as many channels, making it very fast and stable. More and more laptops and phones have a 5G WiFi card due to its ease of use and reliability.
Standards are also very important to note. Different routers support different standards from which the resulting connection speed is derived. As an example, we can say:
Standards are constantly evolving to offer a more stable and faster connection.
