LED (Light Emitting Diode) panels are actually a subtype of LCD panels. The difference is in the backlighting method - while conventional LCD monitors use fluorescent lamps for backlighting, LED monitors use small LEDs. This allows them to be thinner, more efficient in power consumption and provide better contrast.
