The unit kg/cm², also known as atmosphere (ATM), is a traditional unit of pressure that measures the force exerted by a kilogram per square centimetre. This unit is useful where pressure needs to be measured in atmospheric units or according to older engineering standards. Today, however, most industrial and scientific applications are standardized to use SI (International System of Units) units such as pascals (Pa) or multiples thereof (kPa) or bars. Tyre pressure gauges often allow users to choose between different units.
