Crosscut
A crosscut is a cut made perpendicular to the wood grain or across the material. It is used mainly to shorten boards, square timbers, pipes and other parts to the required length. A band saw handles crosscuts thanks to the continuous motion of the saw band, which cuts evenly and with less vibration. During the cut, the material usually rests against the table or an angle fence, which ensures a precise cutting angle. The operator guides the material smoothly and does not press on it with more force than necessary. A crosscut is one of the basic ways of dividing material and is suitable for wood, plastics and some metals.
