Bumping resistance is a feature of cylinder liners that increases their safety. Bumping is a method in which a specially modified key (called a bump key) is used, which is inserted into the lock and then displaced by striking or tapping, allowing the lock to be opened quickly. Bumping-resistant cylinders have special design features that make this type of attack difficult or impossible.
