The D-Link DGS-1510 Series is the latest generation of switches for small and medium-sized companies that require, for example, L3 static routing, virtual stacking and, more importantly, physical stacking as well. The series is ready for physical stacking with 10G SFP+ ports to connect to the core network and create a stack. You can even stack up to 6 units to get 288GB ports in a single stack, so you can easily configure and manage it, and troubleshoot any problems.
The DGS-1510 Series includes advanced features such as Virtual Stacking and Static Routing. Virtual stacking reduces the number of IP addresses needed to configure up to 32 network devices that will be displayed as one unit with one IP address. This greatly simplifies network management. With static routing, IP routes are manually entered into a routing table that allows communication between different user groups in different VLAN segments. The switch is able to directly manage routing between VLANs so the network runs faster and more efficiently. Because the switch can completely manage internal routing, the network router can only be assigned to external routing.
The switch is equipped with a complete line-up of Layer 2 (L2) features, including IGMP Snooping, Port Mirroring, Spanning Tree, and Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP). The IEEE 802.3x Flow Control function allows servers to directly connect to the switch for fast, reliable data transfer. Network maintenance features include Loopback Detection and Cable Diagnostics. Loopback Detection automatically detects and shuts down loops created by a specific port or VLAN. The Cable Diagnostics feature, designed primarily for administrators, can determine cable quality and can quickly discover sections of cabling that need to be replaced.
D-LINK DGS-1510 supports Auto Surveillance VLAN (ASV) and Auto Voice VLAN, which are best suited for VoIP and video surveillance deployments. Auto Surveillance VLAN is a new technology, which consolidates data and surveillance video transmissions through a single switch, saving businesses the costs of maintaining expensive dedicated hardware and infrastructure. ASV also ensures the quality of real-time video without compromising the transmission of conventional network data by giving ASV traffic priority over other packets.
D-Link’s innovative Safeguard Engine protects the switch against traffic flooding caused by malicious attacks. The switch supports ACL (Acess Control Lists) and IEEE 802.1X port-based authentication, allowing network users to be authenticated through external RADIUS servers. The IP-MAC-port binding enables network administrators to monitor locations of IP addresses by binding the source IP address with the respective MAC address and the source port. For added security, there is the DHCP Server Screening feature, which screens rogue DHCP server packets from user ports to prevent unauthorised IP assignment.
Innovative technologies for energy saving do not limit operating performance and functionality. The DGS-1510 series includes a summary of D-Link Green 3.0 features that include power saving mode, intelligent cooling control, reduced heat emission and cable length detection. It also offers advanced power-saving settings including port shutoff and standby, LED shutoff, and system hibernation. The switch can also detect the length of connected cables to automatically reduce power usage on shorter cable connections. It also saves energy according to the state of the connection, which drastically reduces power consumption by automatically letting the ports without transmission hibernate.
