The D-Link DGS-1510 belongs to a series of switches intended for Small-Medium Enterprise and Small-Medium Business environments that require L3 static routing, virtual stacking and physical stacking. The switch supports physical stacking with 10Gb SFP+, and the remaining uplinks can be used for other functions. Additionally, you can connect up to 6 units to create a total of 288Gb ports in a single stack that is easy to configure, manage and troubleshoot any problems.
The DGS-1510 series offers advanced features such as Virtual Stacking and Static Routing. Virtual stacking reduces the number of IP addresses needed to configure up to 32 network devices that can be displayed as one unit with one IP address. This greatly simplifies network management. With static routing, IP routes are manually entered into a routing table that allows communication between different user groups in different VLAN segments. The switch is able to directly manage routing between VLANs, so the network runs faster and more efficiently. Because the switch can completely manage internal routing, the network router can only be assigned to external routing.
The switch boasts a full set of L2 features including IGMP Snooping, Port Mirroring, Spanning Tree, and Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP). IEEE 802.3x Flow Control allows for direct connectivity to servers. Network maintenance features include Loopback Detection and Cable Diagnostics. Loopback Detection is used to detect loops created by a particular port and automatically disconnects the affected port or VLAN segment. Cable diagnostics are used by network administrators to quickly test the quality of metallic cables and to determine the type of cable faults.
The D-Link DGS-1510 is ideal for VoIP deployments because it supports AutoValue VLAN (ASV) and Auto Voice VLAN, which are best suited for VoIP deployment and monitoring. Auto Surveillance VLAN is a new technology for merging data and video transmissions via a single switch. This saves businesses hardware infrastructure expenses. The ASV also provides real-time video without endangering the quality of the transmission by conventional network data, giving ASV traffic priority over other packets.
The innovative D-Link Safeguard Engine protects the switch against overflow from unwanted traffic or virus-induced attacks. In addition, the switch supports access control lists (ACLs) and 802.1X port authentication via external RADIUS servers. The IP-MAC-port link allows administrators to track the location of IP addresses by linking the source IP address to the appropriate MAC address and source port. To further increase security, DHCP Server Screening is available to filter pirated DHCP server packets from user ports to prevent unauthorised IP address allocation.
The innovative energy-saving technologies do not limit operating performance or functionality. The DGS-1510 series includes a summary of D-Link Green 3.0 features, which include power saving mode, intelligent cooling control, reduced heat emission and cable length detection. The switch features the ability to schedule when to turn off LEDs and ports and when to switch them to hibernation mode if they are not in use. It also detects the length of connected cables and automatically adjusts power consumption to save energy for shorter cable connections. The switch saves energy according to link status, which drastically reduces power consumption by automatically letting the ports without transmissions go to sleep.
