Inside the lens is a diffractive element that corrects for chromatic aberration of the system. Focusing lens is due USM drive fast and quiet. This actuator uses a piezoelectric principle and consists of two closes tightly to each other rings, one of which acts as a stator and the other (driving the focussing mechanism) as the rotor.
