The Canon EF 28-300mm F3.5-5.6L IS USM is a complex ultra-high magnification zoom all-in-one lens for Canon’s full frame DSLRs for versatile and easy subject selection. With a zoom range covering everything from wide-angle to super-telephoto you can focus in on subjects as close as 70 centimetres. The built-in IS technology provides a three-stop advantage in low light conditions. This enables slower shutter speeds to be used without incurring blur from camera movement. A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly, and in near silence. An ultrasonic motor is powered by the ultrasonic vibrations generated in the stator which are then combined with vibrations of a different phase generated by a piezoelectric element attached to the bottom of the stator which acts as another component – the rotor or the slider. Excellent holding torque ensures the point of focus is reached accurately, without overshooting.
