The problem with blue light
In today's digital age, most people spend a significant part of their day in front of screens, whether it's a mobile phone, computer or television. Along with the increasing use of electronics and LED lighting, the topic of blue light has come to the forefront. Blue light in the range of approximately 380–470nm is associated with negative effects, especially with evening exposure, when it can disrupt the natural sleep rhythm. However, not all of its spectrum is undesirable. The 470–500nm range, often referred to as turquoise-blue light, is considered beneficial. It contributes to the eye's natural protective mechanisms, supports cognitive function and memory, and stimulates photosensitive cells in the retina that play a role in regulating the pupillary reflex and circadian rhythm.
- Exposure to blue light from screens before bedtime disrupts meIatonin production and sleep patterns
- Excessive saturation of blue light can reduce visual acuity and make focusing more difficult
- Blue light has been shown to cause photochemical damage to the retina and macula, which causes oxidative stress in the eyes
Wearing blue-light-blocking glasses before bed can contribute to better quality sleep, improved regeneration, and higher morning energy. They help support the natural production of melatonin, a hormone that plays a key role in falling asleep and the overall biorhythm. For maximum effect, we recommend putting the glasses on approximately 2 hours before you go to sleep.
