Arduino is an Open-Source platform for easy design and development of programmable electronic devices. It is ideally suited for rapid prototyping of toys, devices, controls and control applications without the need for a deep understanding of the principles of electronics. Without the need for soldering and with the help of a simple development environment and programming language you can create, for example, serious monitoring devices with different sensors or build a remote-controlled robot.

Arduino Yún is a development board with an AVR ATmega32u4 microcontroller and Atheros AR9331 wireless communication chip. The Atheros processor supports a Linux distribution based on OpenWrt named Linino OS. When running Linux, it is possible to communicate via the supplied library. Because of this, the board is natively supported by Ethernet and WiF. Other features include the USB Host feature and the availability of the microSD card slot. The board also contains 20 digital inputs/outputs, 7 of which can be used as analogue. Also, one LED is connected to the board, which can be controlled. Other optional peripherals must be connected separately.

The advantage of Arduino is a simple connection to the computer and programming. Arduino Yun is equipped with a micro USB connector and connects to a PC as a serial port. Custom programming is done in a simple Arduino IDE environment using a language derived from Wiring. The code is so clear and it truly separates the programmer from complex hardware configuration.
