Arduino is an open-source platform for easy design and development of electronic programmable devices. It is well-suited for fast prototyping of toys, devices, and control and regulatory applications without the need for deeper knowledge of electronics principles. There is nothing to solder, so using a simple development environment and programming language you can create, for example, working monitoring devices with various sensors or a remote-controlled robo.
The Arduino Mega 2560 is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega2560 microcontroller. Compared to the previous versions, the main difference is that it does not use the FTDI converter to connect to the computer. Instead, it contains a second ATmega 8U2 microcontroller, which is programmed to act as an USB to serial port adapter. The board contains 54 digital input/output pins and 16 analog inputs. There is also one controllable LED connected to the board. Other optional peripherals must be connected separately.
The main advantage of the Arduino board is its simple computer connectivity and ease of programming. The Arduino Mega is equipped with a micro USB connector and connects to a PC as a serial port. Programming is done in a simple Arduino IDE environment, using a language derived from Wiring. This makes the code clear and intuitive and separates the programmer from the complex hardware configuration.
