AMD has developed a new generation of desktop processors that will be sold again under the FX Series brand name and instead of the Bulldozer modules, they offer a new Piledriver. We can expect to receive higher performance and certainly lower consumption. All processors are designed for the popular AM3+ socket, which will have silicon feature set enhancements designed to improve performance, reliability and security of existing and future virtualisation environments.

The AMD FX-8370 processor is the executive representative of the new FX processor family. Its cores are made with a modern 32m manufacturing process, which has resulted in improved processing efficiency, increased power and reduced thermal radiation. The processor is also equipped with second-generation Turbo CORE technology that delivers maximum performance over a wide range of uses.

Intelligent Frequency Control

If you do not use all of the processor cores, it automatically increases the working frequency to achieve excellent performance even for applications that do not use the full computing potential. In addition, the processor has a pair of turbo frequencies that can be switched in order to always reach the specified TDP.
The AMD FX-8370 also offers the ability to process brand new instructions. AVX (Advanced Vector Extensions) instruction improves parallelism, making it especially useful for scientific and 3D applications that use complex floating point calculations. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) instruction then greatly enhances the performance of the latest encryption applications, such as TrueCrypt and PCMark assessment applications.

With this model, an intelligent memory controller has been used to optimise the communication between each processor core and the memory module.
