AMD Athlon X4 840

AMD brings an interesting mainstream Athlon X4 840 for the FM2 + socket. Unlike the previous generation, AMD is using a 28 nm process. The CPU operating frequency is 3.1GHz but thanks to the Turbo CORE it is able to reach 3.8GHz. The chipset and memory controller is integrated directly into the processor. It supports DDR3 memory and the processor also has an open multiplier for easy clocking.
Like the other model series, the Athlon X4 840 includes a two-channel memory controller. The controller eliminates the delay between the communications processor and an external memory controller, which in practice means increased performance and data throughput.
