Amazon introduces the second generation of its premium Kindle Oasis e-book reader. By adding features to the successful first generation, Amazon has made Oasis better than ever. Its construction features a different centre of gravity that is shifted to one side, which ensures a comfortable grip in one hand. The device's thickness is 3.4mm at the narrowest point, and 8.3mm at the location of the battery. The total weight of the device is 194 grams. The Oasis second generation features a larger 7" display with a resolution of 300 DPI. The touch screen has Carta E-Ink and backlight (12 LEDs) with automatic brightness. The built-in battery promises to last up to six weeks on a single charge - reading 30 minutes a day, for approximately 21 hours of continuous reading.
With the Oasis second generation, you will also be able to play Audible audiobooks. Although the device does not have a 3.5mm jack, you can use a wireless headset to pair with the device via Bluetooth. Another great advantage of the device is its IPX8 certified waterproofing, making it the ideal e-book reader for taking with you without worrying about damage. This certification guarantees water tightness at a depth of two metres for 60 minutes.
