The Hoya HD 55mm UV filter is a general use clear filter that helps absorb ultraviolet light for greater clarity and accurate colour balance. It increases the resistance of the lens to physical damage, including protection from scratches, grease and dust.
The HD series uses hardened optical glass with a sharp boundary for transmitted wavelengths. HD glass has 4 times the tensile strength of conventional optical glass.
